Moped Insurance

Do i need moped insurance?

To ride on the road you must have at least third party insurance cover by law. Other types of cover are available with third party being the cheapest of these, below we have a breakdown of what each type of insurance cover protects you against:

Third Party Only cover (TPO)

Third Party Only covers you for claims made by other people, against you, for death/bodily injury or damage to their property. You are not covered if the moped is stolen. You will not be covered for any damage to your own moped if there is an accident where you are at fault or partly at fault.

Third Party Fire & Theft cover (TPFT)

Third Party Fire & Theft covers you for claims made by other people, against you, for death/bodily injury or damage to their property and if your moped is stolen or damaged by fire.

Comprehensive cover (COMP)

Comprehensive covers you for claims made by other people, against you, for death/bodily injury or damage to their property. This also covers your moped if it is stolen or damaged by fire, accidental or malicious damage. For the loss or damage of your own moped, the insurer will either pay for it to be repaired, or replace your moped or pay the amount for the loss or damage. The insurer will also pay for accident recovery.

We have looked into a whole host of different insurers and after weighing everything up, including cost and quality of cover, we fully recommend trying Bennetts Insurance.
